The Lower Mainland’s homicide team says charges have been laid in relation to the killing of a Langley man in August of last year.
The incident happened early in the morning of Aug. 2, when the Langley RCMP were called to 202B Street between 70A and 68A avenues in the Willoughby neighbourhood after reports of gunfire.
Next-door neighbours told 1130 NewsRadio they heard gunshots around 12:40 a.m., and then saw a black SUV speed away.
At the time, Mounties found two men with gunshot wounds, and they were taken to hospital for treatment. One man was released from hospital, and 41-year-old Dillan Unger from Langley died from his injuries.
In an update to the case on Friday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Stephen Johnson has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to Unger’s death.

“Over the past year, investigators have remained committed to advancing this investigation and securing charges in this case,” says Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi. “IHIT would like to thank the Langley RCMP and IFIS for their support throughout the investigation.”
According to police, the victim and suspect knew each other.
IHIT says Johnson remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
