“Emergency Zone Enacted as Wildfire Threatens Bald Range: Authorities Urge Caution”

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has established a restricted zone around the Bald Range wildfire to assist ongoing firefighting efforts and ensure the safety of the public.

Effective from August 29 to noon on September 12, the restriction aims to prevent interference with firefighting operations and safeguard residents and emergency personnel.

The public is not allowed to enter or stay within the restricted area without written permission to avoid hindering the work of wildfire crews.

As part of the measures, Princeton-Summerland Road has been shut down until further notice, except for residents with access passes. Drivers are encouraged to take Highway 5A and Highway 3 as alternative routes.
