The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is currently conducting an investigation following a recent incident in the Marpole neighborhood where a woman was both physically assaulted and robbed.
According to VPD reports, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 27, the woman was walking along Granville Street close to S.W. Marine Drive when she was accosted by an unknown individual.
Reportedly, the man attacked the woman by striking her in the face and forcibly taking her purse. Despite the swift response by law enforcement, the perpetrator managed to escape before their arrival, leading to an unsuccessful search effort in the neighborhood. However, the victim’s phone was discovered by officers in close proximity.
Constable Darren Wong mentioned in a statement that emergency medical services tended to the victim at the scene, addressing injuries sustained to her nose during the harrowing ordeal.
