An adventurous hiker from Squamish, who went missing while exploring the scenic mountains above the Sea-to-Sky Gondola, has been miraculously found alive.
Stanislav Volo embarked on a hike along the Mount Habrich Loop on August 30 but failed to return home, sparking a massive search operation to locate him.
Squamish Search and Rescue announced that Volo emerged alongside rescuers on Friday afternoon, bringing an end to his ordeal in the wilderness.
Expressing relief, Volo’s sister shared on social media that the family was en route to reunite with him at the hospital, though they had not yet laid eyes on him.
Surveillance footage from the Sea-to-Sky Gondola captured Volo’s presence at the location around 11:30 a.m. on the day he set off on his trek.
Following his disappearance, a dedicated team of search-and-rescue volunteers tirelessly combed the area with the help of drones, helicopters, police canines, and volunteers from various rescue units.
On September 1, Volo managed to contact emergency services, placing a crucial 911 call to inform them of his predicament on the mountain.
His whereabouts were eventually pinpointed along the Indian Arm Forest Service Road, leading to a safe and joyous reunion with the rescue team.
Volo was subsequently transported to the hospital for assessment, despite sustaining only minor injuries.
