A tragic incident unfolded during dinner at a restaurant in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Montérégie, as a young man lost his life in a shooting.
Emergency responders rushed to the restaurant on Alexandre Street on a Friday evening, approximately at 6:30 p.m.
Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, representing the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), shared, “A man in his 20s was gravely injured during the altercation. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.”
Authorities are working to determine if the victim had any prior involvement with law enforcement.
Following the tragic event, a security cordon was established around the restaurant, with forensic experts called in to investigate the scene.
The SQ’s crimes against persons unit has taken charge of the ongoing investigation.
