Four residents of Brampton are facing charges after Peel police discovered a stash of stolen merchandise worth thousands of dollars, believed to be part of an organized retail theft operation in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The investigation was launched following a theft incident in Mississauga on June 18, prompting officers to trace a series of thefts to individuals in Peel Region. On July 20, a search warrant was executed at a Brampton residence, leading to the recovery of approximately $15,000 in stolen goods from various retail stores, including electronics, fitness products, household items, supplements, and cosmetics. Additionally, police seized vehicles, jewelry, and cash in different currencies.
Among those arrested were Czuljana Ciecierska, 43, facing multiple charges including theft, possession of stolen property, and money laundering. Dawid Ciecierski, 47, and another individual with the same name aged 21, also faced charges related to theft and money laundering. Danuta Towinska, 20, was charged with possession of stolen property.
Deputy Chief Marc Andrews highlighted the link between organized retail crime and other criminal activities such as drug trafficking and robberies, emphasizing the police’s commitment to apprehending those involved to ensure community safety.
