Authorities in Nanaimo are seeking assistance from the public to identify a man involved in an alleged incident of unwanted touching that occurred in September.
According to the RCMP, on September 17 around 3:30 p.m. in downtown Nanaimo, a woman reported that she was walking southbound after crossing Front Street near Port Place Mall when she was grabbed by a stranger.
Following the incident, the man boarded bus #40, headed towards Vancouver Island University.
Described as a man in his late 20s, approximately five feet seven inches tall, with a medium build and sandy/reddish hair, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie at the time.
Despite having obtained images of the suspect from inside the BC Transit bus, law enforcement has been unsuccessful in identifying him.
Insp. Donovan Tait, Operations Officer with the Nanaimo RCMP, emphasized the gravity of such actions, stating, “This type of behaviour is concerning and will not be tolerated in our community.”
Anyone who can recognize the individual in the provided images or has information regarding the incident is urged to reach out to the police as even minor details can be crucial in moving the investigation forward.
