Tragic Blaze at CFB Wainwright Claims Lives of Four Soldiers, Including Two from B.C.

Tragedy struck at CFB Wainwright near Edmonton as a fast-moving fire claimed the lives of four Armed Forces members during a training exercise. Dozens were injured, with 39 still hospitalized as of Sunday.

Let’s remember the four courageous souls we lost:

1. Private Shaun Farrell:
Hailing from Prince Albert, Sask., Farrell, a member of the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, chose to serve his country. His family, friends, and fellow service members mourn the loss of this promising young man.

2. Private Aidan Goulding:
At 23, Goulding from North Vancouver, made a bold choice to leave a comfortable life as a mechanic to join the army. Described as a beacon of positivity, his infectious laughter and commitment to duty left a lasting impact on his loved ones.

3. Private Hayden Lykkemark:
From Langley, B.C., Lykkemark, serving with the same battalion, was remembered by B.C. Premier David Eby as we collectively grieve the loss of these brave souls.

4. Sgt. Morgan Wong:
Edmonton resident Wong, a reservist with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, was admired for his dedication and service not just in the military but also as a first responder and financial analyst. His family and community mourn the loss of a remarkable individual.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of these fallen heroes and to all affected by this tragedy. Let us honor their memory and stand together during this difficult time.
