The Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) is set to have its 40 elected members sworn in at the prestigious Red Room of the National Assembly this Monday afternoon.
Following their success on Oct. 5, where the PLQ significantly increased its representation by winning back various ridings in key areas like Montreal, Laval, Outaouais, Montérégie, and Estrie, the party will once again take on the role of the official opposition in the National Assembly for the third consecutive election.
Expressing her pride ahead of the ceremony, Bourassa-Sauvé MNA Madwa-Nika Cadet stated, “Our team has put in tremendous effort, and we are fortunate to have an exceptional leader.”
Cadet assured that the PLQ plans to be a “constructive” opposition, willing to collaborate with the Parti Québécois (PQ) government on matters beneficial to Quebecers. However, she emphasized that on critical issues such as Quebec separation, the PLQ will be a firm and assertive opposition.
In anticipation of their responsibilities, Liberal leader Charles Milliard has appointed his parliamentary officers, with veteran André Fortin taking the role of parliamentary leader and Julie White, who won Jean-Talon from the PQ, as deputy leader. Cadet has been named chief whip, and Filomena Rotiroti will serve as caucus chair.
