Kawhi Leonard Ignites Raptors, Dominating Bulls in Electrifying Season Opener at Toronto

In a stunning return to the Toronto Raptors, Kawhi Leonard led the team to a resounding 135-92 victory against the Chicago Bulls, scoring 23 points in his first regular-season game back.

Leonard’s performance was bolstered by six rebounds and two assists, even though his shooting was somewhat off target, making only 5 of 17 field-goal attempts and 2 of 6 three-pointers.

The Raptors dominated the game, reaching a lead of up to 48 points during their home opener. Alongside Leonard, Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley also contributed 23 points each, with Barnes showcasing six rebounds and five assists, and Quickley providing seven assists.

On the Bulls’ side, Jalen Smith and former Raptor Norm Powell put up 15 points each, with Smith also grabbing eight rebounds.

Toronto coach Darko Rajakovic hinted at Leonard facing a minutes restriction due to conditioning concerns, but the team’s commanding performance allowed the starters to rest in the fourth quarter, with Leonard playing a total of 24 minutes.

The key moment of the game came as the Raptors extended their lead with a 9-0 run at the start of the second quarter, ultimately sealing their victory.

The Raptors’ impressive 43-point first quarter showcased their offensive prowess, surpassing similar totals from the previous season.

Toronto’s next challenge will be facing the Washington Wizards on Friday.
