Commuters will soon be able to once again use the REM in the Montreal region after a month and a half of finding other modes of transportation.
Starting Aug. 18, REM weekday service is set to resume between Brossard and Central Station. The service will be offered Monday to Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m.
During scheduled REM closures on evenings and weekends, a shuttle service will be available for customers.

All five REM stations between downtown Montreal and Brossard on the South Shore have been closed since July 5.
Over the six weeks, REM trains have been out of service as testing across the entire network was being carried out as part of the next phase of the REM’s launch which will be the Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l’Orme branches.
“This summer, the shuttle service to compensate for the complete closure of the REM went very smoothly,” said Benoit Gendron, ARTM Director General.
“Together, all the teams and partners rose to the challenge with agility and efficiency, ensuring the mobility of thousands of users day after day,” he added. “I sincerely thank customers for their patience and resilience throughout this operation. We are now entering a new phase with the resumption of operations of the REM, and we will continue to be there to support customers every step of the way.”

Officials say further tests will be necessary, which will result in an early closure of the REM at 8:30 p.m. on weekday evenings until the new lines to Deux-Montagnes and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue are put into service.
A complete service interruption is also planned for the three weekends following the service resumption.
Shuttles are available to users until then to allow them to travel between the different stations.
Officials have not yet announced the opening of the network’s two new branches.
