Longueuil Ends Boil Water Advisory for Boucherville and Vieux-Longueuil
Residents in Boucherville and the Vieux-Longueuil borough can now breathe a sigh of relief as the City of Longueuil has officially lifted the boil water advisory that was put in place following two water main breaks.
The decision to lift the advisory was made on Friday evening, after the initial ban on Longueuil and Boucherville was already removed earlier in the day.
The water main breaks, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, had caused disruptions, including the closure of part of Jacques-Cartier Blvd. East in Longueuil. The situation was described as a “major” leak, leading to significant traffic disturbances until repairs were completed around 4 p.m.
City crews worked diligently to address the issues, and by Friday morning, the repairs were successfully completed, with the water cleared from the affected area.
While the City of Longueuil assures residents that no special measures are required now that the water ban has been lifted, it is recommended to run all cold water taps for a few minutes as a precaution. Additionally, residents are advised to empty, wash, and disinfect ice machines, as well as flush out garden hoses and outdoor taps.
