Authorities responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 1 in West Vancouver on Monday, causing traffic delays in both directions. The West Vancouver Fire Rescue Service, along with police, quickly extinguished the blaze that engulfed a car between Taylor Way and Capilano Road.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 2:25 p.m. where they found the car fully ablaze. Fortunately, the two occupants had safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Jason Nesset, Assistant Fire Chief of Operations, highlighted the swift response of the teams in putting out the fire.
Following the removal of the burnt vehicle and the clearance of the scene for traffic, the cause of the fire remains a mystery. Nesset confirmed that there was no collision involved in the incident.
West Vancouver Police Department Sgt. Chris Bigland assured that there was nothing suspicious about the event, indicating that investigations are ongoing. Further details on the cause of the vehicle fire are being sought from the authorities.
