Canadian Soldiers in Quebec Suspended Over Shocking 2023 Video Featuring Nazi Salutes

The Canadian military police are currently investigating a disturbing incident that occurred in 2023, involving five serving members who were captured in a video where other individuals were seen performing a Nazi salute. These members are based in Quebec.

Lieutenant-General Michael Wright, Commander of the Canadian Army, expressed deep concern over the content of the video. He stated, “On August 6, 2025, I was notified of a video containing hateful conduct involving members of the Canadian Army. I am deeply disturbed and profoundly disappointed with the content of the video — the behaviour is completely unacceptable, and swift action will be taken,” in a statement to CityNews.

Following the circulation of the video, the army promptly referred the matter to the military police. The five individuals identified as serving members have been suspended from their military duties while a Unit Disciplinary Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the incident.

Lieutenant-General Wright emphasized the seriousness of the situation, saying, “Hateful conduct and extremism have no place in the Canadian Army. It hurts our ability to recruit the best of Canada, to maintain credibility to deliver on operations, and it erodes public trust in our institution. Canadian Army members who jeopardize that trust and participate in hateful conduct will face the consequences of their actions.”

Although CityNews has not directly viewed the video, it was described as showing at least seven individuals, with one person seen performing drills in front of the Royal 22e Régiment flag before consuming a substance. Additionally, there were instances of other individuals performing the Nazi salute in the video.
