Lower Mainland residents can look forward to a sunny and warm weekend ahead, with no heat warnings in sight.
According to 1130 NewsRadio Meteorologist Michael Kuss, temperatures are anticipated to hover in the high 20s to low 30s range over the weekend, with no rain expected. However, the longer nights as daylight hours change will bring some relief from the heat.
Kuss mentioned that while there is a chance of heat warnings for the Lower Mainland starting Friday, the cooler temperatures during evenings and nights will likely prevent the need for issuing warnings, unlike in the past.
Despite the recent heavy rainfall, which might have made August seem particularly wet, only five out of the first 20 days of the month actually saw any precipitation.
On August 15, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) recorded 43.2 millimetres of rain, surpassing the previous daily record set back in 1912 of 26.9 millimetres.
Kuss highlighted that YVR has received a total of 110 millimetres of rainfall from June 1 to August 20, slightly below the normal precipitation of 121 millimetres during this period.
Looking ahead, Kuss forecasts a continuation of hot weather for the next seven days, starting from Friday, with no significant rainfall expected in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley for the rest of the month.
