20-Year-Old Arrested After 8-Month Violent Robbery Rampage Across Scarborough, Facing Nearly 50 Charges

A spree of robberies that plagued Scarborough for months has come to an end with the arrest of a 20-year-old man facing nearly 50 charges.

Toronto authorities revealed that from January to August, a series of violent street and retail robberies unfolded in the 41 Division area, stretching from Brimley Road to Lake Ontario, Victoria Park Avenue, and Highway 401. The suspect, donning a ski mask, targeted multiple victims, coercing them to surrender their possessions like cellphones and e-scooters. Some encounters turned even more menacing as the suspect wielded a knife or gun, instilling fear in the victims and resorting to physical assaults before absconding with the stolen goods.

While most victims escaped with non-life threatening injuries, one store in the Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East locality faced repeated theft incidents by the same suspect. Employees were subjected to threats and intimidation as the suspect, armed with a knife, carried out his criminal activities with brazen audacity.

Fortunately, no physical harm befell the employees during these encounters. However, the spree met its end on August 29 when Toronto police apprehended Anthony Grey, a resident of Toronto. Grey now faces a litany of charges, including robbery, weapons offenses, assault, and violations of legal orders.
