Many Canadians are opting to explore their own country this year instead of heading south of the border for vacations. According to a recent survey by Moneris, a commerce provider, approximately 25% of Canadians have scrapped their travel plans to the United States in 2021.
Of those individuals, 30% have chosen to visit a different province within Canada instead. Moneris also reports that from January to June, Canadians have been investing more in provinces other than their own.
In a related study, Moneris analyzed interprovincial transaction data and discovered a significant five percent increase in transaction volume compared to the previous year. Notably, British Columbia experienced a three percent rise in spending by Canadians from other provinces.
