Police Crack Down on Mail Theft Ring in Surrey, Arrest Three and Recover Over 700 Stolen Items

Amid Investigations, Three Arrested in Connection with Stolen Mail Operation

In a recent development, authorities apprehended three individuals following searches of residences in Surrey, uncovering a cache of over 700 pieces of mail suspected to be stolen from a residential complex in Port Moody.

The Port Moody Police Department had sought the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects linked to a burglary at Suter Brook Village. Surveillance footage captured them tampering with mailboxes in a mail room and absconding with mail, as well as being involved in break-ins of storage lockers and vehicles within the same premises.

Subsequently, on August 28, the PMPD carried out search warrants at two homes in Surrey, where they confiscated approximately 730 parcels, packages, and mail items destined for Port Moody and the surrounding areas. Alongside these, authorities also seized various belongings like building access fobs, keys, security passes, jewelry, and even a firefighter badge.

The police arrested three individuals during the searches, with Constable Sam Zacharias confirming their suspected involvement in the July incidents. The trio have been released pending further investigation, with potential charges recommended by the police.

Zacharias emphasized the importance of residents actively monitoring their mail and storage lockers, advising building administrators to conduct audits on access fobs due to a surge in reported cases of mail theft and storage locker break-ins.
