This upcoming Monday, Nathalie Tremblay, the ex-CEO of Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), is set to share her side of the story with the Gallant Commission.
Tremblay’s testimony holds significant importance for the commission, given her leadership at SAAQ from 2010 to 2022. Her departure preceded the troubled SAAQclic launch, which caused extensive wait times at SAAQ branches in the winter of 2023.
In a recent development, the Auditor General of Quebec’s report in February 2025 revealed that the SAAQ’s digital transformation is projected to cost over $1.1 billion by 2027, surpassing initial estimates by $500 million.
Tremblay authorized the hiring of Karl Malenfant, the former Vice President of Information Technology, who has been a key focus in the commission’s proceedings.
Additionally, she played a role in persuading the government to ease regulations governing the SAAQ.
Malenfant is scheduled to testify after Tremblay. Following several weeks in Montreal, the commission has shifted to Quebec City to hear from these two witnesses.
