Runners and spectators are gearing up for the 33rd annual Montreal Marathon happening this weekend. Whether you’re participating in the races or simply navigating around the city, here’s what you should know.
The Montreal Marathon, organized by Beneva, is expected to draw thousands of runners to the city for a series of races over the weekend.
Saturday’s events will include races of varying distances, from one kilometer to 10 kilometers. On Sunday, the full and half marathons will kick off at Île Ste-Hélène and conclude at Park Maisonneuve.
The shortest race, a one-kilometer dash, will begin at the Botanical Gardens, while the other races will start on Sherbrooke Street before finishing at Maisonneuve Park.
With the event set to cause traffic disruptions, couronsmtl advised, “If you’re driving during the marathon, consider parking outside the race route to avoid inconvenience.”
Road closures are scheduled from 6:45 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. on Saturday and 6:30 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. on Sunday to accommodate the races.
The Montreal Marathon isn’t just a run; it’s a city-wide celebration that brings Montrealers together despite the temporary road closures.
