“Montreal’s Future at Stake: Mayoral Hopefuls Clash in Must-Watch Debate Tuesday”

Montreal’s mayoral race is heating up as the leading candidates gear up for a townhall-style debate scheduled for Tuesday night. The debate, organized by Transition en commun (TEC) and the Institut du nouveau monde (INM), will feature Soraya Martinez Ferrada representing Ensemble Montréal, Luc Rabouin from Projet Montréal, and Craig Sauvé of Transition Montréal fielding questions from the city’s residents.

Dubbed as a “citizen dialogue,” the event aims to provide Montrealers with a platform to engage with the candidates on key issues. Set to take place at the BAnQ auditorium, the debate will be moderated by Maude Goyer, an independent journalist.

Amidst recent intention polls indicating that a significant portion of Montrealers are yet to decide on their preferred candidate for mayor, Martinez Ferrada holds a slight lead with 18%, followed closely by Rabouin at 15%, the incumbent mayor of Plateau–Mont-Royal, and city councillor Sauvé at 7%.

With the municipal election scheduled for November 2, the upcoming debate is expected to offer valuable insights into the visions and plans of the mayoral candidates for the city’s future.
