OPP Confiscates Military-Grade Automatic Firearm in Major Mississauga Trafficking Raid

A 28-year-old man from Mississauga is facing a slew of charges involving firearms following an investigation into the trafficking of weapons and illegal devices in Ontario.

In May 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a probe into suspected firearms trafficking with assistance from Peel Regional Police and London Police Service.

On Sept. 11, Gurpreet Gill was taken into custody at a residence in Mississauga, where authorities executed a search warrant on his home and vehicle.

During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated a total of six firearms, including one modified for fully automatic fire, along with a semi-automatic rifle. In addition to the weapons, over $30,000 in Canadian currency and numerous cell phones believed to be connected to the alleged trafficking operation were recovered.

Gill is facing a total of 27 charges related to trafficking firearms, possessing prohibited devices, and possessing firearms or ammunition in violation of prohibition orders. The charges also include allegations of possessing property obtained through criminal activity.

Following his arrest, Gill was released under specific conditions and is set to appear in court on Oct. 22.
