Toronto authorities have made a significant breakthrough in an ongoing investigation into human trafficking, with a third arrest being announced in connection to the case. The investigation, which began earlier this year, revolves around the alleged exploitation of two teenage girls.
On September 18, a series of search warrants were executed at two locations in Toronto and a vehicle, leading to the arrest of 19-year-old Dejaun Clarke from Toronto.
Clarke is facing a slew of serious charges, including trafficking in persons under 18, possession of a weapon for criminal purposes, unauthorized possession of a firearm, distribution of child pornography, promoting sexual services, engaging minors in illegal activities, trafficking controlled substances, and several counts of sexual assault and interference with a minor under 16.
This recent arrest adds to the apprehension of two other suspects linked to the case. On August 14, Tyrique Harmer, 22, from Hamilton, and Maria Toth-Taddeo, 21, from Toronto, were arrested and charged with various offences, such as trafficking minors, weapon possession, child pornography-related crimes, and drug trafficking.
The investigation was initiated in June 2025 after authorities received reports that two female victims, aged 14 and 17, were coerced into the sex trade. Allegedly, the suspects orchestrated online ads for sexual services, transported the victims to meet clients in hotels, and pocketed the earnings.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims who have yet to step forward.
Toronto Police Service encourages individuals with information or those who have been victimized to reach out to investigators.
