Fraser Health Issues Temporary Closure of Delta Hospital Emergency Room
Fraser Health has announced that the emergency room at Delta Hospital will be temporarily closed for more than 12 hours this weekend due to a shortage of doctors. The closure is set to begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday and will last until 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.
To ensure that all current patients are attended to before the closure, physicians will be available until 1:30 a.m. Emergency-trained nurses will remain on-site during this time to provide basic care for walk-in patients and assist in redirecting or transferring individuals to nearby hospitals.
Fraser Health emphasizes that while the emergency department will be affected, all other services at the hospital will continue to operate normally throughout the night. Although the closure will not impact other Fraser Health Emergency Departments, individuals seeking non-urgent care may experience longer wait times at neighboring facilities.
