Toronto Heats Up: Unseasonably Warm Weather Stays for the Weekend!

This weekend in Toronto, summer weather seems to have made a comeback, offering a golden opportunity for beach lovers to bask in the warmth.

Despite it being October, the city is basking in temperatures more reminiscent of mid-summer, with the mercury set to rise well into the high 20s over the next few days.

Rob Kuhn, a meteorologist specializing in severe weather at Environment and Climate Change Canada, points out that while early October usually sees highs of 15°C to 17°C, this weekend could see temperatures soar to 27°C and possibly even 30°C in various parts of southern Ontario.

Historically, the highest late-season temperature on record for the region has been around 30°C to 31°C, meaning this weekend could either match or surpass daily temperature records in Toronto.

However, the warm spell is expected to be short-lived as temperatures are forecasted to return to more typical October levels by next week. Tuesday, for instance, will see a drop from 21°C to 16°C, accompanied by some showers.

Looking further ahead, Thursday is predicted to bring a below-average high of 14°C, with the potential for frost advisories as morning temperatures dip into the single digits.

Describing the unseasonably warm weather as a perfect opportunity to enjoy a summer-like day in October, Kuhn shared, “It’s ideal for a beach day, with the chance to savor the warmth before we transition back to fall temperatures. While the water might not be as warm as the air, it should still be pleasant enough for those looking to take a dip or simply enjoy the waves.”
