The HopHop app, popular among families in Quebec daycares and schools, has experienced a data breach, compromising the personal information of many children and parents.
According to a recent statement on the company’s website, a cybersecurity expert was able to access private data from the app’s database between September 29, 2025, and October 7, 2025. The information exposed includes first and last names, photos, phone numbers, email addresses, as well as the names and photos of children using the app, along with the names of their schools or daycares.
In response to this breach, the company has taken immediate action by suspending the HopHop app. They have also initiated discussions with the Ministère de la Cybersécurité et du Numérique to address the security vulnerability.
The company reassures users on their website, stating their commitment to resolving the issue swiftly and ensuring the safety and security of their application. With over 500 families relying on the app in Quebec, HopHop serves as a convenient tool for coordinating pick-up times at schools and daycares, utilizing GPS technology to streamline communication and organization.
