Hefty Fines Issued for Illegal Drone Flights Over Rogers Centre During Blue Jays Playoff Frenzy

Toronto police have reported that two individuals have faced charges for operating drones over the Rogers Centre during the Blue Jays’ recent postseason matches.

The incidents occurred on October 4 and October 5, coinciding with the playoff games held by the Blue Jays in downtown Toronto.

Authorities utilized advanced drone detection technology to detect three unauthorized drone flights over the stadium. Law enforcement officers swiftly located the drones and identified the operators responsible.

The suspects were found to be flying small drones weighing less than 249 grams, which are commonly sold as recreational gadgets.

Both individuals have been fined and charged under Part IX of the Canadian Aviation Regulations for breaching the no-fly zone regulations set by the federal government.

“Rogers Centre is strictly designated as a no-fly zone during all Blue Jays postseason games,” the police stated. “This rule applies universally, even to small recreational drones.”

The Blue Jays secured a spot in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) after a triumphant 5-2 win in New York. The team is gearing up to return to the Rogers Centre for Game 1 of the ALCS on Sunday, October 12.
