Teen Charged with Murder and Fraud in Shocking Terrebonne Crime Spree

A 16-year-old teenager has been apprehended in Terrebonne by the police in connection with a second-degree murder case, as confirmed by the Sûreté du Québec on Thursday.

The teenager is accused of fatally injuring a 19-year-old man following a confrontation between the two individuals and others at the scene. Upon the arrival of emergency services, the man was found with severe injuries and was subsequently declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, according to a statement released by the SQ.

The investigation, carried out in collaboration with the Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion Police Department, led to the arrest of the teenager, with several eyewitnesses being questioned.

Known to authorities, the teenager was apprehended in his neighborhood around noon on Thursday, as stated by Sgt. Éloïse Cossette, the SQ spokesperson. It was revealed that there was already an outstanding arrest warrant for the teenager related to theft and fraud in online transactions.

The teenager is alleged to have scammed multiple individuals by advertising cellphones for sale on Facebook Marketplace, an online platform for second-hand goods owned by Meta. Sgt. Cossette stated that the teenager would steal money from individuals who came to purchase the advertised cellphones.

The SQ advises caution and vigilance during such transactions and recommends meeting buyers or sellers in secure and monitored locations. Due to the suspect’s age, he will appear in juvenile court at the Laval courthouse on Friday.
