Canada Post Urges GTA Residents to Clear Snow for Mail Delivery
Canada Post is calling on residents in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to clear snow and ice from walkways, stairs, and driveways to assist mail carriers as they navigate through the aftermath of last month’s unprecedented winter storm. The storm, which hit on January 25, brought record snowfall that buried parts of the city and left many streets impassable for days.
Despite efforts to clear major roads, Canada Post is facing challenges in accessing numerous side streets and residential areas due to deep snow, ice, and uncleared steps. This has resulted in delays in mail and parcel deliveries, as carriers struggle to maneuver through unsafe conditions.
In a statement released on Monday, the postal service highlighted the importance of ensuring safe pathways for both their employees and residents. The agency emphasized that unattended snow and ice not only hinder deliveries to individual households but also slow down service across entire routes.
The aftermath of the January snowstorm has made it difficult for delivery personnel to reach homes and businesses, with some streets remaining untouched by plows. City crews are working to clear the snowbanks, but Canada Post stresses the need for residents to cooperate in creating safe environments for mail delivery.
To aid in the smooth delivery of mail, residents are encouraged to clear walkways, driveways, and areas around mailboxes, de-ice stairs and entrances, maintain handrails and mailboxes, and turn on outdoor lighting to improve visibility for carriers.
Canada Post also reminded drivers to exercise caution in neighborhoods, as delivery agents may be walking and could be obscured by snowbanks.
By working together and ensuring safe paths, residents can help prevent injuries and ensure efficient mail delivery during these challenging winter conditions.
Keyphrase: Snow Clearing GTA residents.
