The North Vancouver RCMP is currently investigating a hit-and-run incident involving two pedestrians that occurred on Saturday evening. The incident took place at the intersection of Highland Boulevard and Wavertree Road around 7:30 p.m., prompting a response from law enforcement following reports of the collision.
According to Mounties, a man and a woman were allegedly struck by a white sedan while crossing the street within a marked crosswalk. Despite the vehicle briefly slowing down after the impact, it quickly fled the scene, leaving the victims behind. The woman sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital, while the man escaped unscathed, as per the police report.
BC Emergency Health Services confirmed that one individual was taken to the hospital in a serious but stable condition following the hit-and-run. Authorities describe the suspect vehicle as a white sedan, possibly identifiable by a broken headlight.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak emphasized the importance of the driver involved in the incident stepping forward and providing their account of the events to assist with the investigation. Encouraging cooperation, Sahak stated that this action would not only be morally right but also aid investigators in establishing a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
