Quebec Liberals maintain lead over Parti Québécois: new poll

The Quebec Liberals are once again leading the way in voter intention just six months out from the next election, according to a new poll.

For the second survey in a row, the Liberals are ahead of the Parti Québécois.

The latest poll by Pallas Data, for Qc125 and L’actualité, shows the Liberals would receive 32 per cent of the vote – a three-point lead over the PQ.

A Léger poll two weeks ago also put the Libs ahead of the Parti Québécois – the first time the Liberals led a public opinion poll in Quebec since September 2018.

It’s a huge turnaround for the party led by Charles Milliard, which was mired in controversy just months ago.

It’s also a stunning demise for the PQ of Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, which has been leading in voter intention, according to various polls, since November 2023.

The CAQ, just days removed from choosing Christine Fréchette as its new leader, sits tied for third — with the Quebec Conservatives — in voter intention at 14 per cent. Québec solidaire came in last at 11 per cent.

The survey was conducted by Pallas Data on April 13-14. Data were collected from a sample of 956 Quebec respondents via automated telephone calls. The margin of error for the survey is estimated at ±3.2%, 19 times out of 20.
