Clic Santé phone line removed at MUHC for scheduling blood tests

The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is discontinuing its Clic Santé telephone line as part of a broader effort to improve access to appointments. The change aims to reduce wait times and improve efficiency, reported the Gazette.

Officials say high demand at the test centre often left callers waiting without any guarantee of securing an appointment. The move is not expected to generate significant savings but will allow staff to be reassigned from phone support to administrative roles.

The MUHC acknowledged that some patients, particularly seniors, may prefer phone access. To address this, the hospital says it is working with clinics to provide support and directing patients to nearby services such as local community service centres (CLSCs).

The transition may take time, but the MUHC says the goal is to reduce delays and improve access to care for all patients, especially the most vulnerable.
