End of an era for New Westminster recording studio

Leonard Osanic knows the Fiasco Bros. Recording Studios like the back of his hand, and at the end of the month, the studio he built from the ground up will be closing its doors.

“I remember putting that nail in there, I remember changing this and that, I remember so many things from starting so long ago,” he told CityNews.

And he started 48 years ago, to be exact.

“A lot of different bands and music genres have come through the doors here, and I’m just happy to be part of the Vancouver music scene, which was quite big at some time,” he said.

Artists from across the Lower Mainland and from around the world recorded in this New Westminster music studio.

Osanic says that the studio was always about more than just music for him. It was about the moment when an idea turned into something real.

“The studio is where a dream kind of comes true. I’ve really enjoyed my time with people making music.”

When asked about why music is important to him, he replied.

“It somehow maybe ties us to the universe. You definitely know your favourite music, the memories it brings back, it’s part of us, the sounds of the universe, it brings everybody together.”

Now, as Osanic and his family pack up decades worth of memories and hard work, he is looking ahead to what’s next with no fear of what the future holds.“I did all that work, I’m out now, let’s go with some other things.”
