A man has been charged in connection with a break-in at a West Vancouver home last month.
The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) says the homeowner claims to have witnessed someone trespassing on the morning of April 23.
“A male suspect gained entry to the home and proceeded through the interior while the owner, who was temporarily off-site, continued to watch on CCTV,” police described in a statement Monday.
It says officers responded by surrounding the home with the help of a police dog.
“As WVPD officers started to breach the front door, the suspect fled through the rear exit, where he was confronted by waiting officers and safely taken into custody.”
Since then, the BC Prosecution Service has charged a 48-year-old man with one count of breaking and entering.
He is expected to return to court on Wednesday.
