Two teenagers lost their lives on Friday night when their vehicle went off the road in Saint-Georges-de-Windsor, in the Eastern Townships.
The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday on Route 249. It was a road accident involving a single vehicle, explained Frédéric Deshaies, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Four occupants, all aged between 16 and 19, were in the vehicle and were transferred to a hospital.
The deaths of a boy and a girl have unfortunately been recorded. The other two occupants sustained significant injuries, but there are no fears for their lives.
“At this stage, it is much too early to comment on the factors that could have contributed to the event,” said Deshaies.
A collision scene reconstructionist, a forensic identification technician and an SQ investigator were on site to conduct a complete analysis of the scene.
The road has been temporarily closed while the investigation is ongoing.
