Scuba diver dies off Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver

A 50-year-old has died in a scuba diving incident off Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver on Sunday.

The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) says that it received reports of a man in distress shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the waters off the park at the western edge of the city.

“Multiple agencies, including West Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services, B.C. Emergency Health Services and the Canadian Coast Guard arrived to provide assistance,” the WVPD said in a written statement.

“Tragically, the 50-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.”

The family of the victim has been contacted.

Police add that there are no suspicious circumstances related to the death.
