Did you see it? Could you miss it?
The biggest Canadian flag ever made is now visible above Vancouver’s North Shore.
Grouse Mountain Resort unveiled the massive landmark on its main ski run, The Cut, Tuesday, as an “expression of national pride” ahead of the arrival of the FIFA World Cup.
“This is a moment designed to be seen not just from the mountain, but from across the city, from the sky, and around the world,” said Adam Rootman, senior director of marketing. “As Vancouver welcomes international visitors, we wanted to put our support behind the home squad in a way that is truly unforgettable.”
The resort says Guinness Book of World Records adjudication is “imminent.” It hopes to officially declare the 160-metre-by-80-metre flag — approximately the size of two football fields — as the world’s largest.
The latest record holder, a 140-metre-by-70-metre flag, took over Stanley Park field in 2017 for Canada’s 150th anniversary after organizers searched for a place to hang or display it, including at Grouse Mountain.

The new flag reportedly weighs over 1.3 tonnes and took over 70 people to install.
Grouse Mountain Resort says Destination Vancouver and Destination BC supported the initiative.
