Police seeking suspect after teen girl assaulted near Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal

The West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) says it is investigating after a teenage girl was assaulted by an unknown man close to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal.

Police say the girl was walking southbound on Keith Road near Douglas Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 3 when the man, who was walking northbound, tried to wrap his arms around her as she passed.

“The victim was immediately able to free herself from his grasp and fled to safety,” the WVPD said.

After going through CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses, police were able to identify a suspect.

“The suspect, who is not local to West Vancouver, is described as a heavy-set man in his fifties with a bushy grey beard,” they said.

“He was last seen wearing a light brown hoodie, blue shorts, black socks and shoes, and appeared to be walking with a limp.”

Police believe this was an isolated incident.

Anyone who may have seen the suspect or who knows where he is asked to call the WVPD at 604-925-7300 and refer to file 26-5575.
