Montreal police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle and witnesses following a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian with serious injuries in the Ville-Marie borough.
The collision occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on June 11 at the intersection of René-Lévesque Boulevard West and Saint-Laurent Boulevard, according to the Montreal police service’s collision investigation unit.
Investigators say a dark-coloured Hyundai Tucson, believed to be a model from 2022 to 2025, was travelling eastbound on René-Lévesque Boulevard West when it struck a female pedestrian.
The woman was rushed to hospital with severe injuries and remains unconscious.
Police say the vehicle briefly stopped after the collision and the driver got out before returning to the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Investigators are searching for a Black man believed to be in his 30s with a black beard.
To assist in identifying the suspect vehicle, police have released images and video of a similar Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle involved in the collision may have visible front-end damage.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to call 911 or contact their local police station.
Information can also be provided anonymously through Info-Crime Montréal at 514-393-1133 or online. Rewards of up to $5,000 may be available for information leading to the arrest of a suspect, subject to certain conditions.
