The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) announced on Saturday that the vice-president of Tourisme Montréal, Manuela Goya, would be a candidate in the riding of Brome-Missisquoi, in Estrie, in the next provincial elections, scheduled for the fall.
Goya will attempt to succeed Isabelle Charest, the CAQ MNA elected in the riding since 2018. The latter announced in April that she will leave active political life at the end of her mandate.
Manuela Goya has been Vice President of Destination Development, Public Affairs and Industry at Tourisme Montréal since 2019.
She has been, among other things, an advisor to the Ministries of Finance and Economic Development and to the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, in addition to having been assigned to files concerning the Montreal metropolitan area.
She also worked for Oxfam Québec and served on the boards of several cultural institutions, including the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Originally from Romania, she has lived for 10 years in the region she will represent. Her main concerns are the protection of Quebec identity and the French language. According to her, defending these two principles requires a sound economic vision.
