Montreal police’s (SPVM) arson squad is investigating after a vehicle was allegedly set on fire in Montreal North early Saturday morning.
Police say they received multiple 911 calls around 4 a.m. reporting an SUV engulfed in flames while parked in a private driveway on Rue des Récollets, near Rue Prieur.
Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control before police arrived at the scene.
According to SPVM, one or more suspects are believed to have intentionally set the vehicle ablaze before fleeing. Investigators later located incendiary materials at the scene.
No damage was reported to the surrounding property, and no injuries were reported.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
