Toronto police are set to provide an update on the tragic incident at the Salsa on St. Clair festival, where two individuals lost their lives and several others were wounded in a shooting.
Police Chief Myron Demkiw and Mayor Olivia Chow will address the media during a press conference scheduled to commence at 3 p.m.
The violence occurred when an exchange of gunfire resulted in the deaths of two men and left at least four individuals with severe gunshot injuries at the festival.
According to Toronto Police, around 13,000 attendees were present at the festival when gunfire erupted shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue.
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing multiple gunshots and the ensuing chaos as people scrambled for safety amid the mayhem.
As of now, the victims have not been formally identified, and there is no information available regarding potential suspects in the case.
