A man from Brampton is currently facing multiple charges in relation to an ongoing investigation into human trafficking within the City of Vaughan.
In a recent development, detectives identified a potential victim at a hotel near Applewood Crescent and Portage Parkway, whom they suspected to be a minor in need of assistance.
Further investigation revealed that the victim, who was below 18 years old, was being exploited for sexual purposes.
According to a statement released by York Regional Police on Tuesday, the suspect had utilized images of the victim in online ads promoting sexual services. The individual controlled the advertisements, scheduled appointments on behalf of the victim, profited from the exploitation, and transported the victim across different areas.
Mark Brown, a 31-year-old resident of Brampton, was apprehended by authorities this week. He has been charged with seven offenses, including trafficking a minor, deriving financial gain from sexual services provided by a minor, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Law enforcement suspects there may be additional victims and urge anyone with relevant information to contact the investigative team.
