“Learner Rider’s Motorcycle Seized After Blasting Over Double the Speed Limit, BC Highway Patrol Reports”

A young woman from Vancouver, holding only learner’s licenses for both cars and motorcycles, was caught speeding at a staggering 177 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on July 11, as reported by the police.

It was just past 7:40 a.m. when a red motorcycle was spotted racing at dangerously high speeds on Highway 99 near Furry Creek, confirmed BC Highway Patrol.

The 22-year-old driver had a Class 7 license for cars and a Class 8 for motorcycles, indicating she was operating under learner’s permits that required a supervising passenger.

Expressing concern, Cpl. Michael McLaughlin of BC Highway Patrol emphasized the grave consequences of speeding, remarking, “Speed kills people, and some individuals seem to ignore this fact. Going 97 km/h over the limit could have easily resulted in a tragic outcome, reminiscent of a recent incident on this very highway.”

This incident occurred just a week after a separate motorcycle accident on the Sea to Sky route caused significant traffic disruption and claimed a life, as per the BC Highway Patrol.

The inexperienced motorcyclist, facing severe penalties, was issued multiple citations, prompting the BC Highway Patrol to advocate for a review of her driving history by the BC Superintendent of Motor Vehicles due to her reckless behavior.
