The lifeless body of a 36-year-old man who had tragically fallen into the waters of Montreal’s Old Port last Sunday was finally recovered on Thursday evening.
Emergency services were alerted around 6:15 p.m. when a passerby spotted the body in the St. Lawrence River near Dieppe Park in the Ville-Marie borough.
The Montreal Police Service’s water patrol swiftly located the body, which was later retrieved by the Montreal Fire Department.
The deceased was identified as the same individual who had fallen into the water earlier in the week, according to Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson for the SPVM.
An investigation has been launched, with the coroner’s office tasked with determining the precise cause of death.
