Heroes Emerge as Two Saved from Perilous Waters Near LaSalle’s Rock Island

A man and a woman found themselves in perilous waters near Rock Island, close to LaSalle, around 7:30 p.m. Fortunately, they were rescued safely after venturing into a restricted area.

When emergency crews were unable to reach the individuals due to lack of specialized equipment, two courageous civilians on Ski-Doos came to their aid. Their quick actions played a critical role in bringing both victims back to safety.

Marc-André Gosselin, Treasurer of the Montreal Firefighters Association, expressed gratitude for the civilian rescuers while questioning the city’s response to past recommendations, emphasizing the importance of proper resources in such situations.

Meanwhile, authorities maintained an exclusion zone during the rescue operation, ensuring the safety of all involved. Following evaluation, both individuals were confirmed to be unharmed after the incident.

This rescue highlights the ongoing risks associated with water activities in the area, especially considering a similar fatal incident that occurred five years prior. With a number of drowning incidents reported this year, officials stress the importance of adhering to exclusion zones and avoiding restricted areas to prevent further tragedies.
