A man and a woman were successfully saved from the waters near Rock Island by LaSalle around 7:30 p.m. after mistakenly entering a restricted area.
When emergency crews were unable to swiftly reach the victims due to lack of specialized equipment, two brave civilians on Ski-Doos came to the rescue. Their quick intervention played a crucial role in bringing both individuals to safety.
Marc-André Gosselin, Treasurer of the Montreal Firefighters Association, expressed gratitude for the citizens’ assistance, emphasizing the importance of proper resources in such situations.
While responders maintained the exclusion zone during the rescue operation, the two rescued individuals were examined and found to be unharmed.
This incident occurred following a tragic event in the same location five years ago, highlighting the hazards of the water. In light of multiple drowning cases this year, authorities stress the significance of adhering to exclusion zones and refraining from entering restricted areas for the sake of public safety.
