Burnaby RCMP are warning members of the local sex work community after investigating a forcible confinement and robbery in North Burnaby on Aug. 15.
Police say the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. and involved a sex worker who reported being held at gunpoint and robbed by two male suspects.
According to RCMP, the suspects fled the residence after the robbery. The victim was not physically injured.
Investigators are working to identify the two men involved.
“This was a terrifying situation for the victim, and we want to ensure the community is aware of this incident, particularly those engaged in sex work,” Sgt. Kyle Kifferling of the Burnaby RCMP Investigative Support Team said in a statement.
Kifferling said the detachment’s Victim Services Unit has been called in to provide support and resources to the victim while investigators pursue leads in the case.
Burnaby RCMP are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
