Durham Regional Police have arrested two young teens in connection with an armed robbery investigation in Oshawa.
Officers were called to the area of Hillcrest Drive and Dean Avenue on Wednesday at around 5:45 p.m. for a robbery.
Police say the victim arranged to meet one of the suspects through an online marketplace to buy a cell phone. During the meeting, a second suspect approached them and allegedly threatened the victim at knife point while demanding their wallet. Both suspects then fled the area before police arrived.
The victim was not physically injured.

Along with police officers, Durham’s new Drone as First Responder (DFR) was deployed to help find and track the suspects. The DFR found them entering a nearby vehicle and tracked it until officers were able to conduct a traffic stop.
Both suspects then allegedly fled on foot but were once again tracked by the DFR in a residential location. They were arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
A 14-year-old boy from Oshawa was charged with robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and unlawfully possessing a Schedule I substance.
Another 14-year-old from Pickering was charged with robbery, obstructing/resisting a peace officer and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
