Voters in three federal ridings where byelections will be held on Aug. 31—including Chicoutimi-Le Fjord—can cast their ballots early starting Friday.
Early voting polling places will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
In addition to voters in Chicoutimi-Le Fjord, voters in Beaches-East York, Ontario, and North Vancouver-Capilano, British Columbia, will be called to the polls on Aug. 31.

Elections Canada notes that voters will find the address of their polling place on the back of their voter information card. They must present proof of identity and proof of address in order to vote.
The by-election in Chicoutimi-Le Fjord was necessitated by the resignation of Conservative MP Richard Martel, who was appointed to the Senate. Martel had represented this riding in the House of Commons since 2018.
The Conservative Party is counting on Régis Gaudreault to retain the riding. Gaudreault will face off against Daniel Gobeil of the Liberal Party and Caroline Dubé of the Bloc Québécois, among others.
For its part, the New Democratic Party is fielding Raphaël Émond, while the Green Party is running Nathe Perrone. The People’s Party is represented by François Sabourin.
Voters in Beaches-East York, for their part, will have to elect a replacement for Liberal MP Nate Erskine-Smith, who has stepped down from the position he held for more than ten years.
In North Vancouver-Capilano, the seat formerly held by former Liberal Minister Jonathan Wilkinson has become vacant following his appointment as Canada’s ambassador to the European Union.
In both of these ridings, the Liberals won handily in 2025.
